| Luther P. Allen’s Shreve Books The Genealogy and History of the Shreve Family from 1641, pub. 1901. The Genealogy and History of the Descendants of Mercy Shreve and James White, pub. 1897. The 1901 volume contains many more branches of the family and although some sections are in both books, some material was also updated. Chapter 2, pages 8-30, includes Early Shreve Families, 1641-1750, and may be downloaded below in PDF format:

| Availability The Genealogy and History of the Shreve Family from 1641, has been reprinted by Higginson's Books, and they have had it on sale at times, so be sure and ask. Delivery time is about ten weeks because each book is made to order. E-mail them higginsn@cove.com or visit their website at http://www.higginsonbooks.com. [The book is advertised "on sale" in the Jan./Feb. 2001 issue of Genealogical Helper Magazine. Regular Price $83.00 - on sale for $ 58.50 + $6.00 shipping.] It has also been reprinted by the New England Genealogical Society and was for sale by them as recently as 1996. NEGS has a library loan program available to members via mail. Both books are available on microfilm from the Mormon library in Salt Lake and may be ordered at local family history centers. Hard copies of these books are in several libraries around the country and may be available via interlibrary loan. |
| Sue Ann Gardner Shreve’s Book new 6/2/98 The Shreve Family Genealogy - An Update from 1641 covers Generations 1-5 of the Shreve family from 1641 in the Rhode Island Colony, with particular emphisis on Generation 6 & the descendants of Dr. Thomas Curtis Shreve, MD (1800-1878). A 13 generation Descendancy chart & every name index is included in the book. All descendants of Dr. Thomas Curtis Shreve MD have been found. The book is presented in the Modified Register Format, is 8 1/2" x 11", 300 pages, (175 pages of documents, photos, death certificates, old family letters, newspaper articles & obits etc. - a lot of this section was done on the color copier so the cost got rather high.)
