Back to Contents
The purpose of this section is to present information on Samuel Shreve, his wife or wives, their children and descendants. We hope to present new material that will extend the information compiled by Luther P. Allen as presented on pp 121-146 of his 1901 book, The Genealogy and History of the Shreve Family from 1641.

Thanks to Carolyn Whitaker, descendant of Jonathon Shreve and Polly Butts, and Scott Cambell, descendant of Elizabeth Shreve and Isaac Sparks, for their help and collaboration in our continuing research of Samuel Shreve and descendants; to Wayne Bracken, descendant of Jonathon Shreve and Polly Butts, for first presenting the idea that the 1818 will may have belonged to our Samuel, and for his article "Samuel Shreve, a Proprietor of Perryopolis, Pennsylvania. Who is this Samuel Shreve?"; and to Bill Bailey for information on Sophia Shreve and William Boice.

Samuel Shreve's 1818 Will
Go to 1818 Will
Samuel Shreve's will dated 8 Oct 1818 in Fayette Co, PA, may in fact be that of the son of Caleb Shreve and Hannah Thorn, even though it disagrees with the approximate death date given by Allen.

Samuel Shreve, a Proprietor of Perryopolis, Pennsylvania. Who is this Samuel Shreve? by Wayne Bracken
Go to Samuel Shreve, Proprietor
In our correspondance back in 1997, cousin Wayne Bracken suggested the possibility that Samuel Shreve's 1818 will in Fayette Co, PA may have belonged to the Samuel Shreve named by L.P Allen as our common ancestor. Now he has compiled his findings into the present article and has graciously allowed us to publish it here. Many thanks Wayne!
