What's New
We have been following a lead on Thomas and Anne's families sent to us by Linda & Buddy Grubbs, descendants of Capt. George Scott of Campbell Co, Kentucky. Capt. George Scott is the son of William Scott (ca 1725—1794) and Lucretia James (ca 1730—ca 1801) of Bedford Co, Virginia. See Scott Ancestors for further more information.

Scott History
Thomas Scott was born in 1767 and Ann in 1773, according to their tombstones, in Virginia according to census records of their children, and they were among the early pioneer families of Pleasant Twp, Clermont Co, Ohio, now Brown Co. According to History of Brown County, Ohio, they arrived circa 1803 and lived on Straight Creek.

We estimate that Thomas and Anne Scott either migrated through, or resided in Kentucky, probably between 1794 and 1803. This estimate is based on census records for daughter Theodosia Scott, who was born 1792 or 1794 in Virginia, and son Thomas Scott Jr., who gave his birthplace as Kentucky in the 1850 and 1860 census of Brown Co , and he was born in Jan 1800. Birthdate is calculated from p121 of Tombstone Inscriptions of Brown County, Ohio which states that died 3/24/1871, aged 71 years 2 months 17 days, and is buried in Old Georgetown Cem, Pleasant Twp, Brown Co, OH.

We don't know exactly when or where Thomas and Ann were married, but based on census records and the date and birthplace of daughter Theodosia, we estimate that they were married before 1794 in Virginia.

Thomas Scott's will, dated 6 July 1852, names six children: Nancy Pikett, Matilda Moore, Elizabeth Johnston, Julian Parsons, Doshy Kendall, and Thomas Scott Jr. Estate documents record that he had another daughter, Mary "Polly" Scott who married Samuel S. Tucker 30 Oct 1828 in Brown Co, OH. Another son, John Scott died 15 April 1815 at 17 years of age, and is buried alongside his parents in Hilman Ridge Churchyard in Pleasant Township.

Along with the eight known children, there are 38 known grandchildren, and we are still looking for other descendants, as well as the ancestors of Thomas and Ann.
