Mefford's Cabin Photos - by Jim Bray and Tom Mefford
|
| Our thanks to cousins Jim Bray and Tom Mefford for these photos of the cabin in Mason Co, Kentucky often referred to as Mefford's Fort or Mefford's Station.
The cabin, now over 200 years old, was the frontier home of our ancestors George Mefford and Malinda Masters and was reportedly built from the flatboat that brought them down the river from Pennsylvania. The structure is an historical landmark and is sign number 92 on the list of over 2,000 Kentucky Historical Markers. It was moved from its original location by the Mason County Historical Society to protect it from vandalism and is now located on Main St. in the town of Washington, Kentucky, 4 mi. SW. of Maysville, US 62/68. To return to this description, use the "Start over" link in the upper left. |
