| Joshua Mefford's Will Go to Joshua's Will Joshua Mefford's Will, dated 3 Oct 1870 with a codicil dated 24 Apr 1880, was proved 30 Oct 1880 in the Probate Court of Brown Co, Ohio, Judge J. P. Biehn presiding. The will names 3rd wife Margaret and ten living children. | Marriages Joshua Mefford married first Susannah Hodgkins, 24 Jul 1823 in Brown Co, Ohio, as recorded in Brown County, Ohio Marriage Records 1818-1850, by Patricia R. Donaldson. Susannah was the daughter of James and Hannah Hodgkins, as shown by her father's will dated 7 Dec 1828, and recorded in the Brown County, Ohio Willbook Vol. 1, p. 111: "I also will that all my personal property...be equally divided between my five herein after named daughters Elizabeth Hall, Susannah Mefford, Nancy McConnell, Ellen Mefford and Hannah McConnell..." Susannah's sister Eleanor Hodgkins was married to Joshua' brother Thomas Mefford, and they also resided in Brown Co, Ohio. Joshua Mefford married second Mary Lamb, 8 Jun 1837 in Brown Co, Ohio, as recorded in Brown County, Ohio Marriage Records 1818-1850, by Patricia R. Donaldson. We don't know the names of Mary Lamb's parents. Joshua Mefford married third Margaret McKee. We don't have the record of this marriage, but conclude that it was sometime between 1850 and 1857. |

| Census Joshua Mefford appears in census records in Brown Co, Ohio from 1830 through 1870 and should be in 1880 as well. In 1850 when Joshua and 2nd wife Mary Lamb were enumerated, our ancestor and oldest daughter Malinda Mefford is residing in the household with husband Samuel Shreve and children Thomas and Minerva. In 1860, Joshua is recorded incorrectly as "John" and wives have changed, which is deceptive until the names and ages of children are compared.
