The Will of AMOS EVANS, dated 25 May 1793, proved 23 March 1796, Salisbury Twp, which is a next door neighbor to Caenarvon Twp in Lancaster Co, Pennsylvania.

I AMOS EVANS of the Township of Salisbury in the County of Lancaster in Pennsylvania being in a good state of health and of a well disposing mind and memory Blessed be the Lord for the same do for the settling such Temporal Estate as the Lord in mercy hath bestowed upon me, make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say Imprimus my mind and will is that all my just debts and funeral expencis be duly paid and Satisfied as soon as conveniently may be after my decease. Item I give and Bequeath to my Daughter RUTH RIGHT the Sume of three hundred pounds of lawfull gold or Silver money P. State one half thereof to be paid her in three years after my decease, and the other half in five years after my decease. Item I give and Bequeath unto my Daughter SUSANAH CROSBY the Sume of three hundred pounds of like money aforesaid one half thereof to be paid her in three years after my decease and the other half in Six years. Item I give and bequeath to my Daughter-inlaw MARY EVANS the Sume of Seven pounds ten shillings to be paid her in one year after my decease and I give and bequeath to my Grandson PHILIP EVANS the Sume of fifty dollars to be paid him in ten years after my death But in Case he dies before he is Twenty one Years of age then it is to go to my son JOSHUA I also give and bequeath my said son JOSHUA the whole of the remainder of my Estate and Residue of all kinds Real personal, or quality, after the aforesaid legacies and debts be duly paid and satisfied, I order my (?) Son to discharge such of the legacies & debts as shall remain unpaid at the time he attains the age of twenty one years, and in case he should depart this life before he attains to the age of twenty one years that then his part to go to my two Daughters equally Lastly I nominate and appoint my Brother JOSHUA EVANS to be guardian over my son and his Estate and Executor to this my last Will and Testament the twenty fifth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and Ninety three

On the 23rd day of March Anno Domino 1796 Personally appeared before me the Subscriber JAMES EVANS Junior and JOHN EVANS two of the Subscribing Witnesses to the within Instrument in Writing, who upon their Corporal Oaths according to Law did Soberly? and Respectively depose and say that they were personally present and Saw and heard AMOS EVANS the Testator within named Sign, read, publish, pronounce and declare the within writing as and for his last Will and Testament and that at the time of the doing thereof he was of sound and well disposing of mind memory and Understanding According to the best of their Knowledge Observation and Belief. --

Be it Remembered that on the 23rd Day of March Anno Domin 1796 The Last Will & Testament of AMOS EVANS late of Salisbury Township in the County of Lancaster Yeoman deceased Was proved in due form of Law and Letters Testamentory thereon were granted to JOSHUA EVANS the Executor therein named, he having first been duly qualified well and truly to administer the Estate of the said deceased and especially to Exhibit a true and perfect Inventory thereof into the Registar's office at Lancaster within one Month from this Date, and to render a Just and true Account of his said Administration within one year or when thereto lawfully required.
